An excellent post Newshound and I hope the club officials read it.

I agree entirely. news-hound's erudition does him proud.

Ultimately I will not make my mind up until I see what sort of team/squad has been assembled, athough the fact that we're not prepared to pay what players want, and yet expect fans to stump up a lot more is an inexplicable dichotomy.

But even if I do purchase a season ticket, there will be commensurate cuts in my expenditure elsewhere. Programme, 50/50 to name but two.

I was expecting a hike to £220, and think that it's yet another mistake by the board.

£240 and thats not taking into account the Cup matches i hope we have to play (fa cup) . Insane amount of money for this grassroots level of football (my jacksie) That then makes it £580 for me and my dad to come to matches when lets be fair the quality of football is still the same, £14 to get into a game at HAYES! this is the stupidest thing i have EVER seen , Your charging £8 for under 16s ? are you insane ... well thats the already attending people only then, my brother or anyone can surely no longer bring their mates to come down as their parents will just be shocked by the price.

I mean for god sake people get a grip! Those of you supporting the decisions are somewhat deluded into the fact that the board is doing the right thing, WAKE UP say there was 50 season ticket holders at 200 quid thats 10000, if you then make it 240 that makes it 12000 (thats presuming they all re-new their season ticket) and what will that extra 2000 do ? how long will that last ? if we are a full time club this is probably going to be what 5 6 players wages for a month?

NONE of my friends who were thinking of coming down this season will do so now as they already thought £10 was a bit steep to watch this low level of football. They would rather have the one off going to see chelsea (and quite frankly so would i if i was them) to go watch a carling cup match for 15 quid or even qpr who are also cheap.

Rant over (phew) :write:

where does £580 come from :confused:

lets compare with crawley shall we, a club like ours, comparison on crawleys terrace season prices

adults = £266 (CTFC) = £240 (HYU)
seniors = £209 (CTFC) = £140 (HYU)
age 18-21 = £209 (CTFC) = £240 (HYU) unless student then £140 (HYU)
age 8-18 = £95 (CTFC) = age 8-15 £38 max (HYU junior reds) age 16-17 £240 (HYU) unless student then £140 (HYU)

i know others will be lower and others higher but i picked a club not dissimilar to ours for comparison, this is the price of top level non-league footy.

i do agree the board should look at terrace and seating season tickets though as has been mentioned and i hope they do some promotions this season to maybe bring in those friends you mention.

But as they proved on Easter Monday, Crawley are a bunch of cheating, money grabbing scum. Do we wish to be like them?

I think it would be a more credible argument to compare us with Tamworth, promoted the same season and their overall set-up is more similar to ours than Crawley IMO.

First of all I don't like the idea of paying more to get in to see H&Y, especially not £2 or £3 more. However, is it in the best interests of the club?

I suppose the club wants to maximise revenue from supporters as the extra costs of having more home attendees is negligible, maybe some policing costs at the extremes.

So, the price goes up 16%. If the attendance falls by 16% or more as a consequence the club loses. If it falls by less than 16% it wins, that ignores programme and burger revenue but let's keep it simple.

If we assume half of our attendance is away fans then the rise is unlikely to put any of them off. So, would we get 32% less home fans? Probably not, so the club probably ends up with more money.

Some people will be put off, some will spend less but it would take lots of them to make the club end up with less revenue.

Basically, supporting H&Y probably isn't very price sensitive. Those of us who are hooked will still turn up and those who don't care will still not care.

I'd love to see the prices halved and the crowds double but that's not easy to do.

One trick we've seen others play is to charge more to away fans (very price insensitive) and less to home fans (more price sensitive). We don't like it as away fans but it makes some sense.

Season tickets are a good way to do this as away fans won't buy them! Season tickets are only used by a small minority at the moment and are a bit esoteric.

Why not push them harder? - at the first home game put up posters, you get that game's admission charge back if you buy one at the match (a LegoLand trick). Why not a "mid-term" season ticket, have another push half-way through the season for a ticket for the remaining games? We want to convert those who turn up for 5 games a season to turn up to 20+. Season tickets are good for the club, can be good for home fans and don't impact the revenue from away fans.

tamworth's terrace ST prices are almost the same as ours although they appear to charge full price to all over 18s including students. not sure of the age limits for junior lambs and mini lambs but they are around the max cost of our junior reds, no mention of free under 7s either.

HYU include a seat and free car parking (£92) if fully utilised whereas TFC give free entry to friendlies instead.

the family tickets are a good idea though, maybe something for HYU to consider next season?

I think most people were expecting a rise to £220 , but even at £240 this works out at only £10.50 a game, for parking , entry and a seat if you want it , which is still good value.

So they're charging more for newbies? Way to go, that'll bring the punters flocking in.
